This semester at school was the first time I was going to be required to write my papers in APA format and I had no clue where to start. The full version was incredible expensive on top of all of my books but I was worried that the pocket guide would not be detailed enough for me. I decided to go ahead and try the pocket guide since it was only $7.00 and thought I could always go back and order the full version if I needed to. Best decision ever! Not only did I save quite a bit of money with the pocket guide but I found that it was very easy to navigate and I love that I can keep it with me all the time!
Both in my BS of Comprehensive Psychology and Master's of Social Work, this booklet is a life saver!!! For any large issue, I still use Purdue Owl website, but for basic issues, or just a reminder to keep beside as I work through my references, this is the best and easiest thing to use for everyday!
This book is very useful for me. I am a graduate student and always confused with APA format. this books offers various samples. My friend is a PHD, and her professor asked her to buy this tool and she recommend to me. it is very small and easy to carry. the most important is it really useful.

I use this so much it is falling apart. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SHORT CUT APA. It has helped me with all my Master APA. Do not try to window APA format for a short cut, your grades will reflect. This is better than trying to read the APA manual or Purdue's online. LOVE THIS. Pages are taped together I have used so much!!!!!!!!
First of all, let me state as a doctoral student; this booklet will not replace the official APA manual. I use this guide as an index to guide where I look in my official manual. I also use it as a quick check when writing a paper. It is handy and easy to carry in my briefcase or even my handbag. Other students at a conference looked at this small book and loved the idea of having a quick reference. Of course I check my papers using the official manual before turning them it. Using this booklet while writing short papers of 20 to 30 pages actually saves time during the initial writing phase.Again its not a substitution for the official manual, but a convenient quick method to check citation form during writing of short papers.
This little guide is far less expensive than the complete APA guide because it includes only formatting for in-text citations and the list of references. Because it's so short, though, I found myself thinking that it could be sold for less. I might order it for my composition classes, though, if our university book store can order it.
Make sure that you purchase a magnifying glass if you have less than stellar vision. This book is roughly the size of an index card (not much bigger). This redefines pocket-sized handbook (or maybe my pockets are larger than average). There is some good stuff about the APA writing style in the book, but it is only the highlights on the big things. For more minute things, you'll need to spend time online researching or order a bigger book.
