If possible, I would give this YA romance 5 stars.I read this book in one day.I found Tripp especially endearing as his issues are more tangible in what can be a sad fact in any home. Tripp's father is physically and mentally abusive to him and to his mother.Tripp was doing what his father wanted in spite of how much Tripp disliked/hated it. His reasons were to be protective of his mother by cooperating with his father's expectations.I agree Hadley was a bit of a whiner when it came to her step-siblings (annoying, but not out of character for a lot of teenagers toward his/her stepbrother/stepsister).....but, when Hadley's secret was out via the "mean girl" route by a former friend....I have to admit it was a shocker!I really was enjoying the book when most issues were NEARLY resolved and the couple was heading toward the HEA........I turned the page and rammed straight into a brick wall--THE ENDThe ending dropped from out of the blue and the story came to a dead halt.....way too soon. The smaller details could have been thoroughly wrapped up successfully with a few more pages....simply by expanding in more detail and depth the pertinent issues brought up in the novel.A very warm story but the ending--way too abrupt and eradicates the five star rating to a 4.5.

You can go off with your friends now." "I am with my friend", Tripp says seriously. My whole body goes hot.'Through their friendship, they develop more than just friendly feelings. They develop a sense of love, support, acceptance, and trust.This is a true started from the bottom love story! I absolutely enjoyed going from the very beginning with Tripp and Hadley. They told a story of hurt, despair, and secrets and turned it around into hope, future and love. I would give this wonderful book 4.5 STARS. Tripp had me from word one. This story shows you as well that no matter where you are from, who your friends are, what you do, YOU and the person sitting next to you are ALL EQUAL. Just because you don't look the same, hang out with the same people or have less money, you are equal. It also shows, you can't choose who you love!I loved this book, I loved the writing, and I really loved the characters!Leaving you with words from the amazing Tripp Bauer, "That's because those girls weren't you, Hadley. I didn't care about them the way I care about you. God, I feel like I've been waiting to meet you my entire life."
I really love stories when the nerdy girl catches the eye of the popular guy.I first got the sample of this book, read it, liked it and clicked buy for $3.99. Thinking back, not sure it was worth $3.99. The story was nice. The characters were okay. Tripp is not your possessive, alpha jerk. He had had a hard time/life at home. Hadley assumed he had it all when he really didn't. She made assumptions like everyone else about him even thought she should have known better since people at school made assumptions about her.What I did not understand and why the author wrote Hadley's character to always be annoyed by her little step-siblings. It made her appear very cold. This threw me off about her and I hated the scenes where she would complain about something so juvenile.I liked the story, but I think there were moments where the execution could have been better. That "something" was missing and days after reading this book, I still can't put my finger on it. It is written in dual POVs - first person. I think it would have been better if the switch did not happen every other chapter. I knew what each of the characters were thinking at every moment. I like the intensity of not knowing sometimes.
