If you like a gripping "can't put down" fiction adventure story of Hammon Innes proportions then this book is a must.The only difference is that this is a real life story about a man (Mark Gee) who has an insatiable desire for adventure.His thirst leads him to join the Spanish Foreign Legion, the Spanish Army's most harshly disciplined troops who, when summoned, are first into battle and last to leave.His desire for adventure and love of his friends sees him planning and carrying out an escape bid which would have worked if one of his friends had not betrayed him.The Legion authorities put him into "The Peloton" a vicious and brutal penal work section.During his time in this "hell on earth" he searches for the truth and finds God. The rest is.......well, read it for yourselves.
I have just started this book yesterday and I can't put it down. I am on page 85 already and will update this review (if I remember as I don't normally do reviews).I am not religious in any way shape or form but love the way so far Mark talks about his hard life and religion mixes in quite nicely. I have always wanted adventure too like Mark but I never got around to it. Great read so far. Kris
