When your life isn't yours to live. When you feel worthless. When all your days you suffocate in anxiety, and every day you resort to breathing exercises so you don't freakin' lose it. When you are absent of a strong support system. Maybe you do what Ally Everly does, on the school bleachers as the sun sets.Sadie Allen is some kind of writer. She can pen pedestrian crap for the rest of her life, but this one breathtaking book elevates her forever. Saving Me is a YA read, and it isn't frothy and it isn't a rom-com. It addresses the very serious topics of severe depression and suicide. If you're on the outside looking in, 17-year-old Ally Everly is someone to be envious of. She has everything. Goes to show how we don't know anyone at all, how we don't live in anyone's skin but ours. And you can't assume.Sadie Allen rips Ally apart but then builds her back up. Saving Me reads like a punch in the gut. It is gripping and haunting, heartwrenching but also ultimately hopeful. You may even smile and giggle in spots. I couldn't stop reading. I don't want to give too many details. This is one of those books that you're best served not knowing too much as you go in. I loved Ally's journey. After her fail, I loved her try. And I loved Sadie's sensitive storytelling, and how real and how raw. And how come no one told me about Whataburger and Fancy Ketchup? Maybe I'll drive to Texas. But Sterling should've told someone.

This book is a great read for ya and parents of ya. On the outside, ally was perfect. She had the perfect boyfriend, perfect house, perfect parents, perfect friends. She was on the track team and amazing at it. Then, it all went away. She got hurt while running track, found out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her friend and other girls, and her parents were acting weird. She wanted it all to go away. She decided to change. She walked into theatre class and everything changed. Sterling, a boy with a lip ring and from a different group than ally is use to, was in that class. He changed her life for the better and was saving her.

This book takes me right back to my high school days. I was so different from Ally though. While she was the “it” girl, and popular, I was the no one who desperately wanted to be popular.I love this story because it’s real, and current. I don’t know what it’s like to have Snapchat in high school, but I think it plays a far more sinister role than that portrayed in Saving Me.At the end of the day, this was a quick and entertaining read.

Sadie really has a talent with pulling you in with every word. She has a talent for writing stories that bring light to the darker side of life. The things people shy away from. In Saving Me, we get a story of salvation. My favorite stories are stories that show strange than perseverance. That is what we get here. This will be a novel I reread when I need to remember it's okay to save yourself.

This is not my go to genre. That said, I loved the book. The character are so well written, and the relationships within the story very well portrayed. So worth the read.

Lovely and diffrent, very emotional and real.

This book is perfect for readers of the YA genre. It is witty, funny, emotional, and treats serious issues the way they deserved to be treated - thoroughly.

***5 ‘Sticky Notes’ Stars***I almost passed Saving Me up...almost.I read the description (The original, the new one is a much better representation of the story) and waffled. I admit it. I didn’t know if I wanted to put myself in that kind of emotional headspace because it would be a conscious and deliberate choice to do so and trust in the author. But as soon as the waffling started (I’m a Libra, we waffle often) it ended and I gave myself a mental slap (or two) and remembered how much I adored Maybe Never and went for it and from the opening chapter I was hooked! It brought out all the feels and had me wishing that there were more words to read because I didn’t want to say goodbye.I adored Ally, she frustrated me to no end at times, but when she did I had to remind myself that not only is she a teenager, but one that has had her world turned upside down in more ways than one. But I enjoyed watching her figure things out, whether it was on her own or with a little help from those around her (both those who were good and not so good for her) and how she not only became stronger but happier as the book progressed. When it comes to romance reviews I have a set way I do them, but for Saving Me I’m changing it up a bit because you, as the reader, need to go into it blind, or at least as blind as possible, so I’m keeping it as vague and simple as possible. The romance was sweet and very honest when it comes to teenagers and how they view love and sex. Do we get full blown details? No, but things are talked about. As for the very eclectic cast of characters that Ally has relationships with, some I absolutely adored and others I wanted to gut with a spoon, but they gave depth to the world and made it feel real and regardless of which side of the coin they fell on for me I can honestly say I wouldn’t mind finding out more about all of them.I have to say that Saving Me is truly an excellent read, and one I am very happy I didn’t pass up (and won’t pass up another book by this author in the future) Ms. Allen approached and handled the topic of depression and teen suicide with respect, honesty and compassion. And while the teenagers that populate this story do very teenage things that may frustrate and irritate, the author balances it out with showing that they are capable of stepping over the line into the adulting realm when looking at situations in a making a more mature decision. I really can’t say enough good things about this book and highly recommend it to everyone.~ Copy provided via Enticing Journey & voluntarily reviewed ~
