This book is largely promotional---justifying and endorsing Thymuskin hair products---but much of the evidence is cogent. Walker points out that male pattern baldness' popular explanation---the effect of testosterone---is too simplistic, contradicted by everyday observation. In adolescence, when testosterone soars, the hairline often reshapes, yet aggressive hair loss is rare. Usually, male pattern baldness occurs while testosterone falls.Although testosterone is pivotal and, upon evidence from eunuchs, effectively necessary, it's insufficient. Generally, male pattern baldness usually goes with aging, not high testosterone. Walker notes that early in adulthood, the thymus gland---which programs immunity's T cells---begins to deteriorate, and then progressively continues to. This helps explain immune senescence and increasing susceptibility to autoimmunity.In 2002, when my hair loss began, I was astonished and despaired. Reading this book and trying Thymuskin, I experienced both halted hair loss and some hair regrowth. Later, without Thymuskin, I slowed and halted my hair loss numerous times, yet never experienced any notable hair regrowth. And so I believe that the Thymusin was effective on me, earlier. Actually, my hair loss had not notably resumed until 2007, when emotional trauma and horrible lifestyle compromised my immunity. Then a cryptic jawbone cavitation became a troublesome, if still cryptic, focal infection.Although I found no publications of the clinical-trial results that Walker writes of and shows putative before-and-after photos from, that is not very remarkable, as many trial results are never published in peer-reviewed journals. Perhaps more remarkable is that a product effective on hair loss would be so neglected---remarkable yet plausible. Despite my belief that Thymuskin worked on my hair loss, I do not think Thymuskin is a hair-loss panacea. After 2007, my hair loss was aggressive, actually scarring. My second round of Thymuskin was in 2011, and was ineffective. Still, I think that Walker pointed me in the right direction. Through a quest initially informed by this book, I eventually, although not by using Thymuskin, halted even my aggressive hair loss.
